Time for an update!

Following the collapse of our last pairing, we are delighted to report that Bridge for Hope has already been paired with a new family (of 3) who are currently in Thailand. We should know very soon whether the final decision has been taken by the Home Office and then when an arrival date is confirmed.

This means we have to get our Welcome, Befriending, Transport and ESOL teams sorted out. Meeting at 12 noon upstairs at Kingsbridge Methodist Church Friday 20th MayPlease would you try to attend this Friday if you particularly wish to support the family in person i.e. if you are going to be one of those meeting regularly with the family. NB If you cannot be with us on Friday please email or text to tell us you are interested and tell us what you see yourself doing.

As we said last month, those who deal with the family on a more than occasional basis will have to attend an on-line safeguarding course and have a basic DBS check done. Juliet Morton and Harry Forrester are our Safeguarding Points of contact and will tell those who need this what to do.

We also need to keep pushing forward with fundraising ideas. We have a sponsored children’s walk and a barndance firmed up (see website). You may have seen us at the Farmers’ Market too. What else can we be doing? Can you help? Many small efforts combined will get us to our budget goal. As a recent example Frogmore’s tabletop sale last weekend raised £103 for us and the outgoing Mayor has just given us his remaining £146. Together that means we can provide 6 hours of interpretation – and that’s GREAT news!Best wishes
